AFFINITY GYN INC
JANUARY 2011
Greetings!

professional picAs we enter into 2011 it is a great time to evaluate your goals from 2010. What were your successes and what do you want to accomplish now?  I encourage you to move YOU to the top of your 'list'. Resolutions are all well and good but if you really want a better, healthier YOU don't put it off-now is the time!

So many are running on fumes; approximately 80% of Americans are getting sick, and fat, and depressed. You can watch the pounds add up, worry about the blood pressure rising, struggle as your energy wanes and fret about the side effects of prescription medication and the medical bills adding up or you can join me (and the other minority of people) and do something about it.

If you ask the typical medical provider how to lose weight, eat better, exercise more and stress less chances are they won't know how to help you! The 2 most likely reasons are they were not trained in medical school how to counsel you or perhaps they do not model this behavior themselves.

As a Nurse Practitioner I am grounded in the prevention of problems; I like to help you before the heart attack or cancer shows up. It is a daunting task to change our lives but you can do it!  Let me help!

I encourage you to make an appointment with me to explore your goals for 2011

Yours in health,

THE COST OF BARELY LIVING
hamburger If you ask a typical person to take better care of themselves likely their answer is either it's too expensive  or they don't have time. But consider the over inflated cost of insurance premiums and ineffective health care we're getting? Too bad, as preventive/self care measures like gym memberships, weekly massages, health-coaching, yoga classes and cooking classes could keep many of us out of disease states!

If it's expense you are trying to save, consider that in less than 20 years more than 85% of the entire American population will be considered overweight/obese (and children are a growing number in these figures). The cost of coping with obesity, heart disease and cancer (which are highly related to your weight) will consume 75% of our total healthcare spending as a nation....and that trickles down to you and me.

If you have little time, consider that dealing with chronic-disease-related losses in productivity from being absent at work to coming to work but not able to give full effort (due to lack of focus, energy) are staggering.  Think how more efficient and happy you could be if your physical and mental health were optimized.

There may not be easy or quick solutions but for those whom have some ability to re- direct healthcare dollars toward self care services should. Why not discuss with your human resource representative what your policy allows. Even a little time and money toward simple investments in your well being makes sense.
