STEFANIE MASS, RN
ISSUE # 15

SEPTEMBER/2010

Greetings!

The body is such a magnificent machine and luckily when things go wrong it usually does not just shut down; it gives us warnings. For example this month let's examine the warning of common headaches; what is your body trying to tell you?
I have listed the top culprits on the left column but of course there are many more and one must be their own detective to find out what triggers their headache.
Just in the area of food sensitivities there are major culprits like chemicals; artificial sweeteners, particularly aspartame (found in Nutrasweet and Equal) which can trigger headaches. These substances break down into formaldehyde and some people lack the enzyme to clear them. MSG (a food additive) caffeine, chocolate, alcohol and gluten (most things made from wheat) often signals your brain to release neurotransmitters which can trigger a headache.
If you need some help with the 'detective' work of the exact source of your headache in relation to food sensitivities feel free to make an appointment with  Stefanie Maass, RN (our new holistic health nurse).

I hope you have enjoyed this insight and pass on to your friends/family.

Please call the office for personal or medical issues. This is for your confidentiality.

Yours in health,
 Patti
