Greetings!

Do you know your 'real age'? Not just your chronological age but the age after all your good/bad habits are averaged?  More than that if you get a 'bad score' can you do something to turn it around? These are questions that intriuge me.

As many of you know my style is based in prevention.I am constantly on a quest to  learn about healthy decisons and I challenge myself by applying what I 'preach' to how I live....(most of the time - of course I'm not perfect by any means)!

I utilize a vairety of labs and studies to build a scientific foundation from which to plan your care and recently I came across this very interesting questionaire which was designed by 2 very reputable physicians. It adds another dimention to understanding your health.

Feel free to click on the link which will take you to the website and answer the questions and then get an enormous amount of feedback! It took me about 25 minutes!

I appreciate your feedback on this issue and ideas for future ones  affinitygyn@hotmail.com

Please call the office for personal or medical issues. This is for your confidentiality.

QUITTING TOBACCO
The U.S. Surgeon General has stated that quitting smoking is one of the best things you can do for your health. So why is it so hard to quit? Most smokers try to quit 6-9 times in their lives. Understanding the reasons why it can be difficult may be helpful.

Smoking is more than a habit for most smokers. It's a nicotine addiction.

When you smoke, nicotine reaches the brain in about 10 to 20 seconds. This causes a chemical called dopamine to be released in the brain. Dopamine provides a feeling of pleasure.

Over time, smoking may become more than just a habit. It can become an addiction. And as with most addictions, when you take it away the you may experience physical withdrawal symptoms. When you quit smoking, it's no different.

No matter how tough nicotine withdrawal symptoms may seem at first, they can lessen over time. There's various ways that may aid in quitting; over the counter nicotine patches and gum, prescription medications that work in various ways or self withdrawal. If you need help I am here to help.  Don't give up before you get to the blessing!
OUR FAVORITES

A very effective diet which uses all food groups in a minimally restrictive way. If in doubt, try this one. It's one of my favorites!

As a small business owner, I have carefully been building my practice. The next step in my growth was to be under my own roof and that goal is now a reality! I am in my new home and invite you to join me. Most insurances are accepted (under my new Medical Director, Sharonelle Simmons MD). I continue to appreciate your referrals-it's the best compliment I can receive!

I look forward to seeing you!
