| Greetings!
This month it was very difficult for me to decide which topic to highlight since I'm extremely passionate about both...so I decided to include both. This could save someone's life or maybe someone close to you!
Did you know that Diabetes is the #2 killer nationwide? My goal is to discover it in the 'pre-diabetes form' and help you prevent the full disease from developing. Genetics and lifestyle are key components to this disease.
This month is also the GREAT AMERICAN SMOKE OFF!
On November 19th, hopefully thousands of Americans will put down their cigarettes. Learn how to help them, or if you are a smoker this is a great website!
If you have identified yourself or know someone who is struggling with either of these 2 issues please know that I would like to help! As many of you know by now I am not a judgemental or harsh provider and my style is to partner with you on the areas YOU need help with.
Please call the office for personal medical/appointment issues. This is for your confidentiality.
Yours in health,
Patti

WHAT'S THE BUZZ ABOUT BIO-IDENTICAL HORMONES? FINAL
|
This is the last of 3 articles on BHRT which will explore the various FORMS of BHRT. It is very much a matter of your preference which guides me to make the final decision on what form to prescribe for you. I will also take into account your medical history and risk factors. Sometimes it is also a cost issue. Depending on your pharmacy coverage (or lack of) the cost of BHRT can run from $30-200/month! I will work with you on finding how to make it affordable.
There are pharmaceutical forms ie; pill/patch/cream and/or there are compounded (made by a specialty pharmacist) hormones like; pill/capsule/cream/suppository
losenge/drops or suspension. Many times I use both. Bio-identical estrogen (Estrace) and progesterone (Prometrium) may be covered by your insurance. Many times, for women, testosterone is not covered but it is for men. So, as you can see it's quite a maze to travel through. I'll do my best to help you find the form and cost you are comfortable with. |
| HOW CAN A REGISTERED DIETITIAN HELP ME?
|
|
Jolyn Seibert RD was introduced last month. She has joined me and is seeing patients who have a number of health issues. Her visits are very comprehensive so be prepared for a great visit! Registered Dietitians (RD's) teach you optimal eating habits and food choices for your health. This seems simple but for many it is extremely difficult to change bad habits. She helps you set goals which reflect your particular health concerns. Living healthy into your 80's and 90's is worth making some changes now!
