Greetings!
Employee Referral Programs Aid in Talent Identification

Typically large organizations boast an "employee-referral" program.  Often these programs are associated with perks such as referral Referralbonuses, additional vacation time or other organizational goodies. Whether you are a large, mid-size or small employer, employee referral programs have many benefits. In a report from the Society for Human Resources Management's Foundation Effective Series, employee-referral programs are lauded as the mostly commonly used and best methods to identify top talent. Consider these discoveries from the research.
  1. Current employees value their reputation, so they will only refer individuals they believe would make good employees. This is, in effect, a form of prescreening.
  2. Current employees are likely to provide those they refer with realistic information about the job, so the prospective applicants will make more informed decisions about whether the position is a good fit.
  3. Current employees are likely to help the person they referred master the new job once he or she is hired.
  4. Referrals from current employees are an especially effective way to bring job openings to the attention of people who are not actively looking for a job, but do possess desirable skills, work experience and a work ethic.
Even with millions of candidates searching for work, surely some of your existing workforce know of persons, of good character, skill and quality that are looking for new careers or in transition. Tap in to this repository of free, pre-screened candidates.
Consultant
As in the past, employers are increasing their use of recruiting and staffing firms - heading towards pre-recession levels. While it's always wise to work with expert firms on filling vacant positions, it also makes sense to implement or strengthen other low cost initiatives such as employee-referral programs. If however, time prohibits hiring managers from targeting, following up with and interviewing employee-referrals, our firm can assist.
