"As the date to meet comes around, I look at my calendar and think that I don't have time for this, but each time I come away with a lot of valuable stuff."

"It is so good to put everything aside and be here.  I have been looking forward to this case study."

Water drop Forum Description:

Permanent white water describes the world of today's nonprofit leaders - a continual disorderly procession of surprising, novel, ill-structured events demanding a leader's learning and constant attention."

(attributed to Peter Vaill, Managing As A Performing Art)

Like paddling the rapids, leaders are faced daily with a multitude of issues, decisions and tasks competing for a finite amount of their time, energy, and resources. Paddling the Rapids addresses all of these challenges, while building leadership capacity. Participants report increasing organizational knowledge, acquiring new skill sets, broadening peer networks, deepening self-knowledge, and renewing their commitment to a mission focus.

Does the idea of meeting with your peers in a confidential environment peak your interest?  This group of 8 executive directors will dive into the topics that are difficult to discuss with others. Come away feeling inspired, renewed, focused, and more able to tackle the challenges and joys of being a nonprofit leader today.

About the facilitators: Deb Burwell and Carol Carriuolo are partners in Paddling the Rapids.  They have over 40 years of combined experience championing nonprofit leaders and their organizations in Maine.  For more information go to   www.paddlingtherapids.com

"Paddling the Rapids was a truly enlightening experience for me.  The sharing of stories was very real and each case study had some bearing on my own work.  The leaders are very competent and articulate with a great deal of wisdom to share."
