Chinese-American Planning Council Awarded Time Warner Grant
Time Warner Logo

Time Warner Cable was looking to partner with community-based organizations. They approached Assemblyman Sheldon Silver's office for consideration for the grant; his office recommended CPC. Their grant is to be used to create technology centers across the city. As a part of the grant to build a technology center, Time Warner will also be providing internet and cable for the technology center, which will an important addition to CPC Workforce Division's services.

Due to the lack of space to build an entire technology center, the awarded grant would be used for the purchase of equipments and software, such as laptops, tablets, and wireless printers.

The new technology center is scheduled to be launch early next year, where a grand opening of the facility would be taking place in the spring of 2012.

CPC Brooklyn Celebrates the Autumn Moon Festival
CPC Brooklyn Celebrated the Autumn Moon Festival by hosting a children's art contest.  The goal of the contest was to promote Chinese culture and to publicize the importance of a harmonious family.  By hosting an art contest CPC Brooklyn hoped to cultivate both a sense of family and respect for family members, and to stimulate the creativity and imagination of children.

With three age groups (4-6, 7-9, 10-12 year olds), children were invited to create works of art around the theme ""Celebrate Mid-Autumn, enjoy moonshine and have fun with your family"

CPC Community Services Fundraising Dinner

For more than four decades, CPC's Community Services Division had been a cornerstone within the Asian communities. Its community service centers throughout had provided services for generations and generations. However, continuous funding cuts had limited their full potential to continue to enrich the communities.

In an effort to raise funding, CPC's Community Services Division will be hosting two events on Monday, October 31st, 2011 at Jing Fong Restaurant, located at 20 Elizabeth Street, NYC, in Chinatown. The back-to-back events are Family Day Fair from 3:00pm - 6:00pm, with a Halloween Costume Contest at 4:00pm; followed by the Fundraising Dinner at 6:30pm.

The fun-filled night would start off with the annual community-wide, Family Day Fair. A time to bring along your friends and family members to get to know the kinds of services that is being offered as well as enjoying a good time. It is also an evening to continue to build a strong family bond with your love ones. There would be educational materials, informative and useful resources available, fun games and activities for the children, and much more. There would also be a spooky Halloween Costume Contest for all to enjoy and participate in.

The night caps off with our extravagant Fundraising Dinner. There would be performances and raffling prizes to giveaway. Therefore, we seek your support so that we may continue lending our helping hands for years to come.

If you have any further questions or need more information about the Family Day Fair and Halloween Costume Contest, please contact Mr. Paul Chan at 212-792-4527 or email at mcs@cpc-nyc.org; for more information about the Fundraising Dinner, please contact Ms. Sumon Chin at 646-613-8420 ext. 283 or email at mcs@cpc-nyc.org.
