Entertainment and Motivation at the Family Day Fair
The Walkathon began with a bang at 9am with live music from Launchpad, featuring Youth Division staff member Daniel Kong.  Adding a little Chinese culture to the day, the Man Chi Dramatic and Benevolent Association Inc. sung Chinese Folk songs and singer Ivana sung Chinese Opera.

For the first time in CPC history, the Family Day Fair featured a DJ to energize the walkers and keep the party going throughout the day.  Special thanks go out to DJ Shakez for DJ-ing all day and encouraging everyone in the park and passing by on the sidewalk to come in and support the youth.

Another first for the Family Day Fair was hosting two Watermelon Eating Contests.  Contestants were split into two age groups (18 and below, 18 and above) and competed to see who could eat their way to the flesh of the watermelon without using their hands first.  The lucky winners received gift cards to local businesses.

Youth performances were also done by girls from Isadora Rhythmics, who beautifully displayed their gymnastic skills.  CPC's After-School program at HS for Dual Language & Asian Studies Tae Kwon Do students sponsored by An's Taie Kwon Do also amazed the audience with their impressive display of marshal arts.  And Walkathon volunteer Ken Ruan made his debut on the Family Day Fair stage.

The headlining acts for the Family Day Fair were Mind of a Monk (an up and coming hip-hop group), Kelly Tsai (spoken word artist) and Taiyo Na (singer and rapper).  Mind of a Monk captivated the audience with their original hip-hop songs.  Kelly Tsai challenged and intrigued the audience with her spoken word performance on identity and youth.  Taiyo Na also graciously came out to support the youth and spent some time with the volunteers.

We would like to thank all of our performers for coming out to support the youth and performing at the Family Day Fair.
