| NO MORE CHASING PAIN | | |
 Thomas will never forget his first weekend home for a visit while he was an inpatient at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital.
He put off taking his pain medication until the pain became unbearable. "It ended up being a nightmare," he said.
The nurses worked with Thomas to develop strategies to anticipate his pain so he was no longer chasing it.

| DOING THE RIGHT THING TO MANAGE CHRONIC PAIN | | |
Shauna Kingsnorth understands the importance of providing clinicians with the best tools to help kids with disabilities lead unlimited lives.
As an Evidence to Care Lead at Holland Bloorview, Kingsnorth is working with an integrated team of physicians and clinicians, led by Dr. Darcy Fehlings, investigating chronic pain in kids with cerebral palsy.
"We heard from many clinicians worried about whether they were doing the right thing regarding chronic pain management," says Kingsnorth. One study on youth with cerebral palsy found that 70 percent of those sampled experienced recurrent chronic pain. Read more...

This Halloween, hand out something more than a treat.
Holland Bloorview is launching a new initiative called Change for Kids. It is about celebrating the Halloween season, while giving trick-or-treaters the opportunity to help kids with disabilities to realize their full potential.
The $5 Change for Kids coin card includes 20 coins to hand out to trick-or-treaters for their chance to win amazing prizes online. For every coin PIN code entered, Scotiabank will donate $5 to Holland Bloorview.
