freeArt ATX
I'm super excited about this little project. I hope you will contribute and help spread the word!
We are slowly but surely collecting up freeArt for our project. My boys are getting excited about giving away the pieces on National Arts Advocacy Day in a couple of weeks.
If you haven't yet had a chance get your art to us, don't despair! There is still plenty of time to send in your flat, 6" x 6" art. Just put it in an envelope and send it along to: Christine Terrell, P.O. Box 301329, Austin, TX 78703
Remember to spread the word to all your friends, too. We're hoping to have lots of freeArt so we can have lots of conversations with lots of people about the importance of art and arts education.

rolled up This month I've been playing around with rolling the tin into long, narrow tubes. Slide through a super sweet tiny chain and it's a snaz little necklace.
I'm also still intrigued with a bunch of new shapes which I'm mixing and matching in all sorts of ways. It's crazy here at adaptive reuse! You can see some of what I've been up to in my Etsy shop. For 20% off your order, just use the code SPRING20 during checkout.

We checked out this 9 hole art mini golf course the other day at Laguna Gloria. It's super fun and worth an hour or so of your time. The grounds at the museum are lovely right now and the artist-designed holes vary from whimsical to downright challenging. My kids wanted to design their own when we got home. Art on the Green runs through May 20th. Green fees are half price on Twilight Tuesdays from 4 to 8pm.

Our paperless society (ha!) has made the clipboard a bit of a relic, but I still have a soft spot for them. I found this Chalkboard Clipboard tutorial by illustrator Rosemary Travale at Apartment Therapy. I think it would also be fun to just paint the whole board, clip a ziplock bag of chalk to it and keep it in the car in case an emergency doodling attack strikes. Or, maybe it would be a good place to keep all those random great ideas that occur to me while I'm shuttling kids from one place to another. Hmmm. This got me wondering what other fun things one might be able to do with an old clip board. I found ideas for: Photo Display, Home and Office Organization, and, with the help of some wine corks, a Corkboard. April Bonus: Make chalkboard paint of any color by adding 1/2 T unsanded grout to 1/4 cup (4oz) acrylic paint.

This is too bizzaro to not mention it here. I made it today and have to say, it's faux real. It's not, however, for baking.
Faux Cookie Dough
Ingredients: 1.5 c chickpeas (1 can, drained) 1/8 tsp plus 1/16 tsp salt tiny bit over 1/8 tsp baking soda 2 tsp pure vanilla extract 1/4 cup nut butter (or sub oil) up to 1/4 cup milk of choice , 1 T as needed) 2/3 c brown sugar 1/3 cup chocolate chips 2 to 3 T oats (or flaxmeal) (You can omit, but also omit the milk if you do)
Directions:
Add all ingredients (except for chocolate chips) to a good food processor (not blender!), and blend until very smooth. Then mix in the chocolate chips.

Maker Faire is just around the corner. Be sure to mark your calendar for May 12. There will be fun for the whole family. Rumor has it that adaptive reuse will be doing a little demo at the event, so stay tuned for more details on that.
