Prevention HR Spotlight

"An Ounce of Prevention..."
Performance Management Programs

Many companies lack a formal program to evaluate their employee's job performance.

This is bad for many reasons. Two reasons are basic.

First, Employees should know if they are performing the duties of their job, and how well they are executing those duties. Second, the lack of a formal performance management or appraisal program can lead to law suits based on the fact that management has no record showing an employee did or did not perform the duties of their job in a satisfactory manner. Having no performance management measurements is a good way to open a company to charges of favoritism, racial or sexual discrimination and class action forms of litigation.

Vision for Future Defense Contractor

Richard Grantham
@ Heckler & Koch

The strong commitment of economic growth and development, championed by the Chamber, was a driving factor in our decision to transitioning the entire U.S. Heckler & Koch Operation to the Columbus area. The partnership we have formed with the Columbus Chamber of Commerce continues to foster long term benefits and I can not think of a better working environment for defense contractors and the defense industry as a whole. We are proud to be a part of the Columbus community and look forward to working with the Columbus Chamber in the years to come.

(Transformation and Growth of the Defense Industry) One of the biggest opportunities for new growth in both jobs and capital investment lies in the Defense Industry Sector. The world's best defense industries are associated with Armor and Infantry.

Benning is now the Maneuver Center Of Excellence. The Chamber is meeting with and actively pursuing these companies to establish operations which could bring thousands of new jobs and hundreds of millions of dollars in capital investment to our Region.
