Membership Growth in 2011 and Beyond
Is membership growth a strategic focus for your credit union in 2011? With credit unions growing at an average rate of 1.2 percent a year, this topic is likely to be at the top of the list for many credit unions nationwide.

With Hispanics being the largest, fastest-growing, youngest and most underserved group in the U.S., will reaching this group be part of your membership growth strategy in 2011?

The U.S. Census Bureau will be releasing the first set of 2010 Census data on December 21 and estimates point to a surge in the growth of young Hispanics.

Not sure if you are ready to take the plunge and invest in a comprehensive Hispanic outreach strategy in 2011? Don't worry! There are several small steps you can take now to begin exploring the opportunities.
  1. Research the demographic make-up of the population within your field of membership.
  2. Schedule a meeting with your management team to discuss the opportunities and challenges in reaching Hispanics.
  3. Join a discussion group to ask your credit union peers about their credit union's experience with serving Hispanics.
  4. Start the education process. Inform staff, management and your board about the importance of serving this market and about the Hispanic culture.

Coopera Consulting can help your credit union with each of these. Contact us to find out how.

External advisory groups can serve multiple purposes. Create your credit union's own external advisory group to help be a sounding board for your Hispanic outreach strategies.

El Poder es Tuyo User Testimonial

The information on the site of how to protect your identity was very informative. It is a big help to learn the adequate steps to take to not become a victim of identify fraud and also how to take adequate steps in the case that you suspect identity fraud.
