September 2012

Welcome to this month's Impact Your Community news! In this issue mark your calendars for the Operation Snowball 35th Anniversary Walk Celebration. Make plans to attend the Mid-Year Summit in January 2013. Several Snowball chapters received mini-grants to help implement their action plans developed at CGTI.

It's not too early to start planning for Red Ribbon Week and order supplies. In October OS, Inc. will host a training on action planning. Do you have knowledge and skills to share with your peers? Be sure to read about how to become a webinar presenter.

Last but not least, IADDA is looking to hire an Outreach Coordinator. This exciting new position will manage public awareness and outreach for CGTI and OS.

Community of Caring
Planning for Positive Community Change
October 17, 2012
Naperville, IL

There is an inspirational adage that says, "People don't plan to fail. Instead they fail to plan." Because you certainly don't want to fail, it makes sense to take all of the steps necessary to ensure success, including developing an action plan. There are lots of good reasons to work out the details of your chapter's work in an action plan. We want to help you in developing a simple but successful action plan for positive community change for your Operation Snowball chapter. Action planning allows ideas to become realities and students to become empowered community leaders!

The OS action planning process follows the Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF), a process to plan successful prevention approaches.

The goal is that each chapter team will leave with the tools to develop an Action Plan for positive change that they will actually implement! The Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF) is a five step process that will help your chapter team plan projects that are well thought out and meet the needs of your specific community.
