OS 3rd Annual Make The Right Mov(i)e ContestIADDA Update

Make the Right Move(i)e is a creative contest for Operation Snowball youths interested in preventing underage drinking during prom and graduation.

This contest is designed to get youth involved in developing messages that can influence their peers and discourage them from drinking alcohol. It provides a unique opportunity for youth to develop a powerful video message on underage drinking prevention and have their creative talents displayed on YouTube before a national audience. Because underage drinking is particularly prevalent around special events, the videos should focus on messages dedicated to preventing underage drinking at prom and graduation events and parties. Each interested OS chapter is encouraged to submit a 15- 30-second or 1 minute video. Appropriate videos will be posted to YouTube and judged by the OS Board of Directors. Prizes will be awarded to OS chapters who create the top videos. Click here for more information.

"ITI means life to me. I chose to live the snowballic way. My goal in life is to leave this place better than how I find it. The change I want to bring starts with myself. First by living a healthy and positive lifestyle. Then I roll it into a ball and it becomes the effect of snowballs. ITI is a week of uniting with young leaders all around to improve your foundations in order to achieve your dreams." Ankit Patel

"ITI means a place where I can be myself and not have to worry about judgement or not being good enough, iti is everything great in the world :)" Kristin Kay Eul

The Illinois Sheriffs' Association is offering a limited number of scholarships NOW for ITI. These scholarships go quickly, so getting this information out is important for students who wish to attend on a scholarship. Please forward and share this information with anyone who might be interested in the programs, and also send it along to local schools. If you are able to drop off the information to your local schools, this is much more effective at garnering school support. Whatever assistance you can provide is very appreciated. We want to make sure that all youth are able to access the great training they receive at ITI to help strengthen their efforts.

We are happy to help with recruitment and promotion efforts, and generating local scholarship sources! Just email (cjcavazos@iadda.org) us for help!

Get Your Free Supplies For The 4th Annual Statewide Project Sticker Shock
IADDA Update

You are invited to stick 'em up and participate in our statewide Project Sticker Shock event!

During this event, stickers, window decals, posters, and proof of age signs will be posted in liquor establishments reminding consumers that Providing Alcohol to Minors is Illegal, Unhealthy, & Unacceptable.

This is the fourth year that Illinois has hosted a statewide Sticker Shock event. Each year, THOUSANDS of volunteers participate in the annual activities, and this past year was no exception!

Partners in prevention

Throughout the spring, a variety of community leaders - including mayors, police chiefs, sheriffs, and other local officials - will serve as chaperones as teens fan out across the state placing Sticker Shock materials in their community's liquor establishments. Additionally, a variety of statewide organizations - from both the industry and prevention fields - have signed on as partners for this event.

All Sticker Shock materials were created through the ILCC's public education arm - the Don't Be Sorry campaign - and are designed to provide the health and legal consequences on both parents and youth.

NOTE: If you are holding a community-wide activity, please review our "Sticker Shock Quick Notes" page to learn how to make your event a success. For additional questions and information, please call 312-814-4802 or email ted.penesis@illinois.gov
