Bacon Pickup Details
Hi Folks,
At long last, today we picked up the first round of cured and smoked pork bellies (aka, BACON) from GreenMountain Smokehouse in Vermont. It is a delicious hickory-smoked, maple-cured bacon with our own Pete & Jen's label. It is now available in the mini-store freezer and ready for you to pick up. Bacon pick up is first-come, first-serve. Because of the 200-lb minimum for curing Nitrite-free, we did the majority of the first round of bellies as Nitrite-free, so we only have approx. 30 lbs of Regular cure bacon available. We will have plenty more coming back from the smokehouse in a few weeks.
Pre-order Bacon Pickup Information
The bacon in the freezer is not marked with a price. They are all packaged in 1-lb packages, and bacon Pre-Orders are $10.50 / lb.
There will be a yellow order sheet posted on the freezer in the mini-store that will have your:
- name
- order (how many pounds of regular or nitrite-free you reserved)
- subtotal
- deposit paid (if any)
- total due
There are TWO shelves in the freezer - one shelf has Nitrite-Free bacon, the other has the Regular Cure bacon. Please take only what you pre-ordered at this time !! If you want to purchase more bacon later after we fill the pre-orders, you are free to do so when we send out another "free for all" bacon reminder. Once you take your bacon (and pay for it), please mark your name off the order sheet so we know you picked up.
Feel free to pick up other tasty goodies while you are here! We have pork cuts, sheep stew meat / shoulder chops / rib chops / loin chops, rabbit, lard, and chicken giblets (and feet for stock!). Thanks very much - enjoy your delicious, healthy, and humanely raised pastured pork!

Directions to Mini-Store for Bacon Pickup
Pete and Jen's Backyard Birds mini-store is open 24/7 on the Honor System. We only accept cash or checks payable to: Backyard Birds.
To get here... Our mini-store is located near 159 Wheeler Road, Concord, MA. Follow directions to Verrill Farm and continue past the store up the street. The entrance to Pete and Jen's self-serve mini-store is in the parking area near the Verrill Farm horse stables. Near the end of Wheeler road you will see a sign for Verrill Farm Stables. Across the street from this sign is a dirt  parking lot. Park in this lot (stable lot). In front of the parking area is a long white building. You will see a recessed door, down a few steps, and on the door there is a blue sign that says "Chicken". This is our mini-store! It's open 24/7. It is the only door that will not take you into the horse barn. The entrance has a motion light, so if you stop by after dusk/dark, you'll be able to see your way to the fridge/freezer. Complete an envelope with your particulars (letting us know what you are paying for) and leave the payment envelope in our brass mail slot through the door (it is marked). We welcome folks to drop off any clean egg cartons for us to reuse. There are other great products to enjoy and purchase as well!
