Fall Sheep Harvest - delicious!

All of our sheep are now in the freezer! Come and get it, first-come, first-serve. We have delicious roasts, ground sheep, rib chops, loin chops, bone-in stew meat, and shoulder chops.

Prices are:

Roasts (bone rolled) $ 8 / lb

Ground $6.95 /lb

Stew $6.25 / lb

Rib chops $ 11.75 / lb

Shoulder chops $ 8.50 / lb

Loin chops $ 14 / lb

This sheep breed is Dorsett and they kept the grass "mowed" ahead of our meat chickens and added needed fertility to the pasture. We experimented with this alternative vegetable / livestock rotation model as part of a Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE) Farmer Grant we received last year and we finished the second year of the trial.

We will continue to have fresh, organic eggs throughout the year (our hens don't take a break for winter) and we currently have a few packages of our grass-fed ground beef and rabbit for sale. For those who ordered pork, our pickups start next week. We will have individual cuts of pork and fresh bacon in our freezer beginning in mid-November. Fall capons will be processed on Oct 31, ready for pickup on November 1st. We will also have a few ducks (Muscovy) for sale in the mini-store on November 1st.

Other goodies currently in the mini-store: pork lard for all your fall baking needs (or to fry our delicious eggs), herbal salts, harvest baskets from Ghana, handmade soaps (our own Backyard Bubbles), frozen garden pesto, and chicken feet and a variety of giblets - delicious for making stock.
