region 2 masthead

We're winding down but......

There is plenty of great platform tennis left to be played.

My wife Barb and I are heading to Long Island this weekend to play in the Husband/Wife 50+ Mixed Nationals. It's hard to believe I know, but yes, I am that old and we're going to lie about Barb's age. The Tournament Chair, Tim Mangan, reports that he could use a few more teams in all three events he's hosting - the 60+ mixed, the 50+ mixed and the H/W 50+ mixed. Please reach out to Tim today and head to LI with us this weekend.

If you can't make the trip, the famous Shoreline Spring Classic is this Saturday & Sunday at the Shelter Harbor Inn in Westerly RI. The men play on Saturday and the mixed event is Sunday. Contact Jim Dey to sign up.

And there is a new event on the Region 2 calendar this year. Rich Morell is hosting the inaugural
the Birch Hill Open Paddle Battle in New Durham, NH. This is going to be very special. I can only use Rich's words to describe it:

The Birch Hill Open Paddle Battle - Welcome! Let's have some fun!
An Open Paddle Tournament - you're invited.
Friday night... paddle starts along with ping pong, Beirut and few other tournament events.
Try to make it for Friday night for the lobster dinner, otherwise competition starts on Saturday.
Beer, lodging, food, trophies, all for $80 a team!
Award ceremony honoring Jerry & Johan, if they dare bring their game to New Hampshire.
So let's end the season with a bang!
Please submit entries via email with your name & partner (singles welcome) along with your phone number. Feel free to arrive Friday or Saturday.

It should be a lot of fun. Maybe Barb will let me go if I play well this weekend. Of course, Rich didn't place any gender restrictions on this tournament. He did say "Open".
