APTA Region 2 Update

I haven't heard if anyone is back from Nantucket yet. I'm told the weekend is so much fun, the players often find it hard to leave. Next year - I'll be there for sure. Jerry Albrikes and his partner, Juan Martinez-Arraya kicked butt in Rochester NY at the Shadow Lake National Ranking Tournament. Along with their victory, Marc Porter & Peter Harvey had a great showing too making it through to the semi finals. Thirty-two women from CT, MA and RI participated in the 5th Annual Rally For A Cure. A social but competitive round robin was held at The Golf Club of Avon and The Hartford Golf Club catering to all levels of play. This Weekend:

Our first events for President's Cup points are this Saturday & Sunday in Westerly, RI. Every year, the individual regions of the APTA send their five best men's & women's teams to compete for the President's Cup. Our men's team has won the Cup two of the last three years. And this season, the women's team is making a strong push to claim the Cup. It all starts this weekend in Rhode Island. Even if you don't consider yourself "President Cup" caliber, you'll never know how good you are until you play in a PC qualifier. Grab a partner and head to RI this weekend. The men's event is Saturday and Jim Dey ( jim@shelterharborinn.com ) is your contact. On Sunday, Kate Rugen ( kvrugen@gmail.com ) is running the show for the women. Looking Ahead:

Still time to catch the foliage in Vermont. I'll be playing in the Green Mountain Men's Open on Saturday, November 15th and if I can talk my wife into it, we'll be playing in the Mixed Open that next day.
