Make Room for One or Two Today!

Shelters across the nation are feeling the stress of the economic downturn. A sad reality is that when people lose their jobs or homes, they may also face the gut-wrenching task of taking their beloved pets to an animal shelter.
The ASPCA is reporting record numbers of animals being left at shelters at the same time that adoption rates are declining. A report in January urged pet owners not to look at their animal companions when considering budget cutbacks. You can view the report here.
What can you do help? Why not make room for one or two of these pre-owned pets today!
The ASPCA's on-line Adoption Center has pictures and information on adoptable cats and dogs. To make it easy to find the right pet for your family, they have developed a color coding system for pet personalities called the ASPCA's Meet Your Match.
Each animal receives a safety assessment for evaluating rehoming which is a screening to make sure each pet is a good candidate for adoption. Dogs are tested for their friendliness, playfulness, energy level, motivation and drive. They are then placed into one of nine color-coded groups named according to the pet's personality such as "Couch Potato" or "Constant Companion".

On Sunday, July 19th, Venice Lofts, Manayunk's most luxurious urban, riverfront loft and townhome community, will be holding a special day of pet pampering.
When you want to really spoil your dog, or just meet other dog owners who are as crazy about their pets as you, there's no better place to bring Fido than Dog Days at Venice Lofts! Pets of all sizes and shapes can come with their owners to enjoy the day.
Dog Days at Venice Lofts will be held from 12 to 3 pm in the interior courtyard of Manayunk's premier pet friendly luxury community. This is a chance for Philadelphia pet owners to treat their four legged best friends to a day of luxury. Local pet service providers and retailers will be on-site to give pampered pets the best care.
Representatives from the Pennsylvania Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), Top Dog Pet Sitting & Dog Walking, Canine Clippers, Buzzy's Bow Wow Meow and TowerStar Pets will be participating in the event. Each organization will offer special discounts or services to guests.
Guests can enjoy interactive exhibits, booths, contests and more. There will even be a little something for the owners, as we will have food and drink for human consumption!
Guests will be able to:
- Win a free pet sit or dog walking session from Top Dog Pet Sitting & Dog Walking
- Adopt a new pet, or sign up to be a PAWS volunteer
- Have their dog washed for free (compliments of Canine Clippers)
