Monday, February 20, 6:00 pm Social Change Book Club Everyone Leads Building Leadership from the Community Up Heine Bros. Coffee 119 Chenoweth Lane, St Matthews. Our February book, Everyone Leads by Paul Schmitz, surveys America's democratic and civil rights history, current events, and leadership theory to demonstrate how collaboration among citizens has always been core to social change. It outlines five leadership values that are essential today: diversity and inclusion; teamwork and collaboration; recognizing and mobilizing assets; continuous learning; and integrity.
The Social Change Book Club is open to everyone who is interested in understanding, participating, leading, or supporting social change. Each month we select a book and get together to discuss. Selections rotate among three themes: social changes, how we work with others to make change happen, and the inner qualities needed to bring change into the world. Please just show up if you are interested--no RSVP, commitment, etc. It is great when people have read the book, but that is not a requirement to come and discuss. We got this going because there is a lot to learn about how to make social change happen and people who are interested in changing the world need opportunities to share stories and experience community with others who care.

Second date added! Saturday February 25, 2012 * 9 am - 4:30 pmThe Landscape of Dreams
A nature-based, soulcentric dream exploration
with Doug Van Houten
"What is there, after all, besides memories and dreams, and the way they mix with land and air and water to make us whole." -Robert Michael Pyle
Rather than interpret dreams, this workshop will invite you to return to the terrain of your dreams using a number of soul oriented practices borrowed from depth psychology and nature-based peoples.
By re-entering and immersing ourselves in dream time together, we will invite the more mysterious, deeper realms of the human psyche to lead us toward an encounter with our own deep wisdom, our souls. This powerful approach may help us to heal, to welcome forgotten or buried parts of ourselves, and holds the potential for us to deeply experience personal transformation.
What you will learn:
* Ways to remember your dreams
* How to tend to a dream on your own at home, or in nature
* Ways to invite yourself into the dream landscape and be present to the elements of the dream
* How to bring dream elements to your waking world as a daily, soulful practice
Held at the newly renamed:
1741: A Collaboratory for Social Innovation (1741 Frankfort Ave.)
Cost $80 (Sliding scale available) ($65 before February 6)
Please register in advance (502) 472-6563 limited to 10 participants
Doug Van Houten, lover of earth, apprentice to the honeybee, visual artist, wild ceremonialist, and heart-centred activist guides for the Animas Valley Institute (www.animas.org).
Following the workshop will be an ongoing Soulcentric Dream Group meeting on Thursdays, March 1, 8, 15, 22 and April 5 & 12
Contact Doug for more information
