Thanks to the 200+ folks who made Moving Planet - Moving Louisville
a Wonderful Success and an Awesome Afternoon
On September 24, 2011, 350'org's "Moving Planet" event sent a powerful message to government leaders and to human beings the world over: We must move beyond fossil fuels, for our own sake, for the sake of future generations, and for the sake of living Earth. This message was communicated by over 2,000 events in more than 175 countries (see www.moving-planet.org).
Here in Louisville, we showed that it is possible to send a serious message to local government in an engaging and community-building way. And, come to think of it, how can a movement succeed without a community? So all of us on the "Moving Planet, Moving Louisville beyond Fossil Fuels" team want to thank all of you who trekked down to Jefferson Square Park Saturday afternoon for our miraculously sun-kissed rally.

Thank you for your presence, your spirit, and your donations. We also thank our musicians and speakers who volunteered their time, talents, and inspiration. Finally, thanks to our amazing volunteer photographers, Camille McManus, and Donald Vish, a small portion of whose work we share here. Can you feel the energy? Can you feel the love?
We plan to seek a response from Mayor Fischer on our seven "Local-Motions" to reduce Louisville's fossil fuel use from transportation. We encourage you to stay engaged on this issue in whatever way seems right for you. And please remember the larger issue of all human-induced climate change. The science is clear. We must return the planet to the conditions under which it birthed us and all life.
