Event Overview

15000Greetings,

The June 3rd Gulf Oil Disaster event was a good beginning.  We had around 170 people in attendance including representatives from over a dozen action groups, two local television stations and the Courier Journal.

There was general agreement around the understanding that while BP's gross failures caused this disaster, we as participants in our culture's addiction to cheap petroleum hold some of the responsibility for this crisis.

We agreed that while most of us are not in a position to participate in direct clean-up action on the coast there was still much we could do in response to this disaster.  The two major focuses of action that emerged were creating policy change through various expressions of activism and the supporting of a variety of initiatives that contribute to a profound reduction of our dependency on fossil fuels.

In this newsletter are details on these initiatives, information on upcoming events and more.  Coming soon will be video from Wednesday's event and more updates on local activities.

Together we can seize this moment to make a better world.

In Solidarity,    Mark Steiner
