Namaste Karma Yogis-
Thanks to everyone who supported the Grayson food bank this weekend at our YOGA DAY USA event and also a special thanks to those of you who helped host the event with me. If I do say so myself, I think it was a lot of fun. The best part though was that in one morning we managed to collect more food than we usually collect in a whole month. Nice job!
I'm still trying to come up with a meaningful way that our yoga community can respond to the tragic situation in Haiti so if anyone has any ideas for an event please share. In the meantime, I thought we could support our friends at Children's International and send something extra this month for that agency's program in Haiti. To do this all loose change and stray bills collected in the water jar through the end of January will go towards a separate check to the organization in addition to the aid I send each month to our own sponsored children.
As I hope you are all aware, for the past five years the studio's primary Seva (service) project has been to sponsor two young boys through Children's International, one from India and one from Columbia. [We've done this through the sale of bottled water. Cold bottled water is located in our little refrigerator.] I've recently created a whole bulletin board in the lobby with all the information about Johan and Dibeyendu. Check out how much they've grown in the years we've been their sponsors!!
Selfless service to others is called karma yoga and whenever we open our hearts to others we bring yoga off the mat and into the world.
Once again, thank you for being such a compassionate bunch this weekend. We will definately participate in YOGA DAY USA again next year.
Om Shanti -
