THE YOGA SOURCE STUDIO
Namaste Yogis-
Karma Yoga is the yoga of serving others. How you place your energy into the world is as much a part of your practice as asana, postures, or meditation. For the last six years The Yoga Source studio has tried to sponsor two young boys through the Children International organization, Johan in Columbia and Dipiyendu in India. Their bios are posted in the studio on the front bulletin board over the lending library bookcase.
The plan has always been to support the boys through the sale of bottled water in class but, as many of you are aware, it's way past time for a better source of revenue. Bottled water sales have never made more than a token contribution to the cause for one thing and for another, we are more aware all the time that the environmental impact of using bottled water is 'himsic' (harmful and unyoga-like.) It does not make sense to support a good cause with a bad product.
I'm currently researching the cost feasibility of selling top quality chocolate bars (possibly organic or vegan) as an alternative source of support for these children. Would you commit to purchasing one or more bars of chocolate a month for this cause? Your ideas and suggestions would be a great help this week. You can e-mail me at madhaviyoga@aol.com.
Om Shanti -

How We Help Children |
|
As a nonprofit humanitarian organization, we strive to help children around the world overcome the burdens of poverty to become healthy, educated, self-sustaining and contributing members of society.
|
This goal is achieved primarily through child sponsorship, which unites children in need with individual sponsors who wish to address the children's immediate and basic needs, and gives them the tools and opportunities necessary for success.
In addition to sponsorship, we work to further improve the living conditions of children and families who live in poverty. Through |

|
projects such as latrine building, clean-water initiatives and income-generation programs, we help families live healthier and happier lives.
We continue to provide safe, sturdy homes for impoverished families who suffer in substandard housing. Through our housing program, we've built hundreds of new homes for victims of natural disasters, such as hurricanes and fires; and thousands of homes have been repaired and upgraded with sturdy roofs and concrete floors. |
