Welcome to my spring newsletter!

Photo by Scott CollierI may be a bit premature of course and we may have a bit of winter left yet! I was reflecting with Fi, my running partner, that this has been one of the most exciting winters, weather-wise, in many years, and I have run through a few winters!
But it has been fun - Fiona and I have laughed a lot at the slipping and sliding as we've run into rain and wind and snow. Much of my newsletter explores life through the physical as a metaphor and I find that experiencing physical discomfort is one of the purest ways to bring you in touch with the now! It challenges you to stay with what does feel good and there will be something, some aspect of what is happening that maintains the bright spark and energy of the life force and it certainly puts you completely in touch with being here now, in the next footstep, affecting your future by how you tread that step and the position you take within the headwind!

One morning a week or so ago I was running along the seafront, again into rain and a headwind and I was struck by an unexpected thought - 'I love winter'. I recognised in that moment that the discipline I practice, of living with what is, being here now and living what is happening, had 'worked'!

Retraining our neural pathways and patterns does take discipline and it is a daily practice to notice habitual thought patterns and examine whether they support or hinder us. It is a discipline to be here, now, accepting and experiencing wherever you are. Time is now. Many people are discontented, looking towards an imagined future that they feel will be better. But we create our future here, now, in this moment. How you think now, how you feel now, what you say and do - the next step you take now creates your future and shapes your destiny. If you want a positive optimistic future - then look at this moment you are in from a positive optimistic stance.

This theme is explored in depth by Jim and Fiona and Mark whilst Rob challenges us to look to others to model excellence. We have a new contribution from Mark Cooper, who has responded to tragedy in his own life by looking to make a difference in the lives of others and fully embrace his own.

There is a fascinating interview with Vena where she talks so clearly and passionately about how we can grow in relationship and that relating with others is a mirror or a magnifying glass the more intimately you dare to go into your own being. Jane's novel unfolds from the inside out giving us a journey into ourselves and reflecting Vena's message that relating with others is ultimately about the relationship we are developing with ourselves.

Darcie gives us welcome advice which mirrors a podcast I recently did with Nicci Talbot, valuable information for women everywhere - and Simon continues an exploration of his and my ongoing dialogue where we discuss endlessly and enjoyably the true meaning of freedom of expression. We have ostensibly met to discuss business and end up having café philosophique together! But then my business is actually about exploring the business of living and so it seems to work just fine!

Have a wonderful month

With love,

Julia
