Julia ArmstrongWelcome to my September Newsletter.

The essence of this newsletter is to explore how we expand and heal through authentic dialogue and through stretching ourselves out of our comfort zone.

All of the writers this month explore the different ways we stretch ourselves to expand and grow and become more than we were before: Mark stretches our bodies through yoga - I know this through experiencing for myself his dynamic yoga class! Vena stretches us to the very core of our being, by encouraging us to face and go deeply into our heartbreak and pain and trust this leads us to our healing and  a clearer understanding of ourselves; Simon stretches our mind to grasp new concepts; Darcie by encouraging us to take responsibility for our health and Jim leads us to run towards our peak experiences that transcend day to day 'normality'.

We are encouraged to look at life as extraordinary through the stories here in this newsletter. Our lives unfold in the stories we all tell about ourselves, about others and about what is occurring in our world, the dialogues we engage in shape our lives and colour the experiences we have each day. Through the written and spoken word we can learn and grow. As we read and hear the ideas and wisdom from others, we might pick up something that resonates and will connect to our own journey.

Whenever we write something down or we speak out and let it go into the world, it is then in the hands of those who read and hear it and they will interpret it and do with it whatever they will. This is the power and excitement of freedom of speech. I notice again and again the healing power of being truly listened to and validated for what we are saying as opposed to the wounding and damage that occurs when we are shut down or shut up and told we are wrong for what we say or think.

It helps our process if we engage in authentic dialogue with one another, and we can all contribute to this by daring to say who we really are, what we really feel and think, and then in return validating the words and experiences of others. Being heard and recognised is very healing and it is a gift we can all give to each other.

I love running with Fiona, I feel safe to be completely open and explore in the dialogue as I run - and she listens without judgement or her own agenda. It is a gift for me to have found her to do my two favourite things with - running and explorative, authentic one on one dialogue - and in this month's newsletter she tells of our running journey over the last six months.

The power of being heard and validated, and within running, is also reflected by the work that Chris is doing in Kenya. He is giving a platform for the voices of those in trouble to be heard, and now he is combining his passion for running with his passion for writing to continue to raise awareness of the difficulties that the street children of Kenya are encountering - read his article to find out about the journey he is embarking on. I am tempted to join him - of course!

Rob completed his ironman and also tells us his incredible story - I am not so tempted to try and compete in an ironman!  But in thinking of spending all day being challenged physically and mentally and emotionally, it is no wonder that sport is so often used as a metaphor for life. The intensity of the physical challenge means that you are taken to depths that you often don't encounter and so you find within you strengths and skills that mean that the experience doesn't just make you a master of the event or the sport, but can be transferred  so that you better master life. The video link that Rob has attached is worth a look at too, it is a witness to love in action and the joy of real passionate connected relationship and its healing power, not just for the two people we view but for all the many thousands who have watched this clip.

I hope you enjoy this month's newsletter!
