Julia ArmstrongWelcome to my August Newsletter.

I hope you are enjoying your summer. As might be expected, much of mine is being spent running across the South Downs and along the coastal paths. This is my idea of heaven and also allows me a way of meditating on the move. My mind clears and stills and I become conscious that below my thinking mind is something wiser and that if I keep quiet this inner place gives me far more clarity.

The process of creation starts with a thought, a picture in your head, an idea, an imagined future - everything that exists on our planet started this way - as a thought - everything is a manifestation of our thoughts.

One morning a few months ago I was running with Fiona and we were exploring what it meant 'to manifest'. The dictionary says 'show plainly to the eye - evidence of, prove, display' - it seemed to me that taking more notice of what we think and whether that is connected to what we really want and who we are at the core of our being was worth giving some space for - and so whilst running on the downs I had the idea of the 'manifestation workshops' which have now manifested! In Fiona's article she writes of her experience of taking part in the process in the workshops.

Martin Bulger also loves to run over the South Downs. When we met to record our podcast he too spoke of how his mind clears as he runs and that the benefits go way beyond the physical fitness. This month you can read about his love of running and his passion for running marathons, his 150th planned to take place on his 60th birthday this October.

Part of the process to connecting with who we truly are and what we truly want is through relationship with others. It is through dialogue that we create what we have thought about. Therefore being more conscious and taking notice moment by moment means that we will take more responsibility for what we create and the impact we are having on ourself and on others. Sophie has given some holiday tips to ensure we stay connected to our partner - or anyone we might go away with - through being intentional in dialogue and really present to listening to the other. The power of words must never ever be underestimated, which is why through taking notice of our thoughts and words day by day we can take responsibility for positive change interaction by interaction.

This is demonstrated in work that Chris is doing in Kenya with his 'Hear Our Voice project. Through the written and spoken word the people are telling their story and,in the telling, hear their own voices and are validated and heard by others and a process of healing occurs. Chris has contributed some of the stories and reactions from the people hearing of the experiences of those hurt and damaged. The effect is raw and sad but also beautiful in its message of hope and possibility for change.

I met Vena at the 'Starting Over Show' last year, we recognised in one another a shared passion for understanding the process of relationship as a place for personal development and as an opportunity to move towards becoming whole in relationship with self through the mirror of the other - she writes about what this process means for her and the stretch it takes to keep stepping towards our complete self through the magic of relationship with one another.

Jim is away on holiday at the moment, so no article from him this month - but he'll be back with us in September. Hope you're all enjoying any holidays this month too!

With all good wishes,

Julia
