I very much welcome the equinox, the point where the days equalise and then turn in favour of more daylight hours! As a runner out in all weathers and a lot of it in the dark in the winter months, I am very aware of the energy and spring in my step as the end of March heralds lighter evenings and longer days. Our energy lifts, and we literally come out of hibernation and look to the creative energy all around us for inspiration.
All the crocuses and daffodils have endured the hard winter and remind us of the eternity of life, year in and year out. The snowdrops still emerge, the blossoms blossom and the hedgerows start to become lush and fresh.

We only have to look to nature to find our messages of endurance and of continuity, of keeping going through adversity, finding the strength within and simply continuing, whatever is going on around us.

Strength is the ability to persevere when things are hard, to find the qualities of determination and perseverance and courage within and to keep going when we don't want to. Once you have come through anything difficult, your confidence is increased - 'if I can do that I can do anything'. Once we have peeped beyond our comfort zone - dived way through it even - and found that we can again feel at ease, we have discovered the indominatable nature of the human spirit.

There is a flame inside each of us that cannot be put out. Even if it burns low, human beings can withstand so much, and ultimately it is through our attitude that we can change our life. In the end it is our perspective as to whether life is good or bad - as to whether we see failure as a place of learning and improving or as a terrible disaster.

The subconscious mind remembers the dominant thoughts and organizes itself around them, so if you are happy about success and good things and truly celebrate them, and if you are pragmatic about failure or hardship and simply see it as a learning process then you are more likely you are to direct yourself to success and happiness.

Wishing you all good things.

With love,

Mind
JuliaSarah Kelsey is away this month, but in her place, Julia tells us about her experiences getting divorced online:
'The service was excellent... they were my first choice when I went back as a returning customer!'

Development coach Keith Kinsella explains 'systemic presence':
'It's a term I've created to try and capture what happens when an individual or group in a partnership is able to embody in their present behaviour the essence of preferred new ways of practice.'

Philosophy student Simon Broad on 'the they':
'What we turn to instead is 'the they', as in 'they say it will rain tomorrow', 'they say you should do so-and-so'. When you read a newspaper or sit in a café watching the world go by, you are participating in the world of 'the they'. Who is this they?'

Body
muddy shoes Physiologist Rob Harley shows how learning to evaluate your own performance can help shape your training:
'Having recently guided a partially sighted runner round the Eastbourne half marathon in 92 minutes, it made me think about what performers can learn from evaluating their own performances.'

Sports psychologist Jim Wallis tells us why we should keep our dream goals:
'Recommending 'dream goals' may, at first glance, contradict the notion of focusing on factors which are totally within your control...'

Skincare expert Darcie Carrington on being by beside the seaside:
'If you are lucky enough to live by the sea or in easy reach of it, then no doubt a quick jog or leisurely stroll down to the seafront is something you might do on a regular basis...'

Yoga instructor Mark Freeth on injuries:
'I'm currently nursing quite a debilitating pulled back muscle. After 14 years of studying yoga and 9 years of teaching, you'd think I'd've learned my lesson by now!'

Spirit
Fiona Bugler, of the Running Inn, tells us about jigsaw puzzles!
'I sometimes think that life is a series of jigsaw puzzles. Some pictures are easy to put together, others a bit more complicated - some are masterpieces you love to stare at, some you want to pull apart as soon as they're finished and fling the pieces back into the box...'

We also have another 'Running to Learn' card from Julia and Jane. This month: Take charge:
'Whatever is going on in your life right now has been manifested and brought into being by you. This can be a hard concept to embrace, especially when things are not working out as you desire.'

Brindel's philosophy is that the body holds all the wisdom, that self awareness begins with becoming conscious at the physical level. His work accesses his client's own healing abilities and leads them to a place where they are able to understand how to work to their own optimum place of health, vitality and wellbeing.
