SBJ Seeks Submissions to Cornerstone Casework
by Maria Hoover, Features Editor, Springfield Business Journal
Springfield Business Journal's Cornerstone Casework will return in the Aug. 13 issue, and we need your help. This feature is designed to showcase recent significant cases for Springfield-area firms, with the cases categorized as:
• Those that have brought significant financial verdicts, such as a class-action suit, or perhaps an employment dispute or personal injury case; OR
• Those that did not result in financial verdicts but set significant precedents, brought about changes to the law or resulted in a significant corporate merger or acquisition.
This is an editorial feature, so there is no cost, and submittals will be published on a first-come, first-serve basis as space allows.
To be considered for publication, cases must have concluded no earlier than Aug. 13, 2011, so they will have been within the last year, and Springfield-area attorneys must have been involved with the case. (For example, firms that are based in other cities may submit for the feature as long as attorneys with their local offices – defined as Springfield and a 50-mile radius – were involved with the case.)
Each firm may submit one case. The deadline for submittals is Aug. 3.
For each submittal, we require:
• The name of the case, the date, and the court in which it was handled
• The name(s) of all attorneys who worked on the case. If some are outside the Ozarks, please signify where they are based.
• Photos (head and shoulders) of the primary LOCAL attorney(s) involved with the case. (A maximum of three photos would be published, so if there are more local attorneys, choose and submit photos of three.)
• A paragraph detailing the significance of the case. Tell us what was at issue with the case, noting key pertinent factors. Also outline why the findings of the case are significant, and what they might mean for similar issues in the future. Please note, we will edit for space and clarity. Based on what was published last year, the description should be 200 words or less.
