Retail Realm releasing Utilities Version 10
 
Retail Realm  by 14th of August is releasing all add-ons with RMS V2-SP2 compatibility and releasing the new version of Utility.
RMS Version 2 - Service Pack 2 Compatibility
 
Microsoft with the launch of RMS Version2 - Service Pack 2 implemented encrypted user passwords in the SQL database as part of the PCI compliancy requirements.  Many add-ons in the market that were using the User Name and Password to give access to their program were affected.  In the last 2 months Retail Realm has verified that all RR Add-ons that work within POS are still working correctly and has implemented a new RR User and password policy.  After the 14th of August all our add-ons on the FTP site will be V2 - SP2 compatible.  When you install at any customers site for the first time the new version of RR Add-ons a default user of '123456' with a password of 'password' is created.  After logging in to the RR application access File and User to define roles and import or create new users .
Selling RMS to Stores that manage Buy Back (buy and sell used items)
 

Buyback

If you have ever tried to sell RMS to a Golf Pro Shop, a video game store, or a high end camera store you would have faced the question of how to handle 2nd hand items.  In the example of the Golf Pro Shop the customers exchanges an old set of clubs for a brand new expensive set.  The problems that are then encountered are:
 
  • can I  have a guideline for the buyback of 2nd hand item?
  • can I have a guideline of selling price for 2nd hand item based on how much I actually bought it (some in better condition you may buy more expensively that others)
  • when I buy I may not want Tax / VAT to be applied to 2nd hand but when I sell I do want to apply the Tax / VAT.  how do I configure this?
  • when I sell I need to get the original buy price as actual cost so I can get accurate profit margin reporting.

Each buyback item will have a unique serial number to which is attached a unique cost and price.  The buyback has a feature for allowing immediate printing of label. The buyback feature with the above characteristics is being released on August 14th with the Utilities Store & HQ V10.
