Last week I was on an airplane flying to a speaking engagement. The flight was completely full, as most flights are today. Just before the door closed two teenage girls (about 13 and 15) entered the plane and began looking for two seats together. When the flight attendant told the girls there were only two seats available - both middle seats - one in the front of the plane and the other in the back, both girls had a look of disappointment and fear as they thought of being separated. Good News for Abstinence Education!
The GOP Platform recommends abstinence education:
"We renew our call for replacing 'family planning' programs for teens with abstinence education which teaches abstinence until marriage as the responsible and respected standard of behavior. Abstinence from sexual activity is the only protection that is 100 percent effective against out-of-wedlock pregnancies and sexually-transmitted diseases including HIV/AIDS when transmitted sexually. It is effective, science-based, and empowers teens to achieve optimal health outcomes and avoid risks of sexual activity."
