CEO Training and Certification Program - 2010 Review
The CEO program had a very busy year! The implementation of the statewide building code kept (and is still keeping) us very busy with training and exams. We also offered basic training in internal plumbing, subsurface wastewater, and legal issues as well as quarterly exams. Here is a recap in numbers:
620 - number of people who attended SPO sponsored trainings (370 of those came just to building code trainings!)
641 - number of exams proctored (566 of those were building code exams taken by 200 people!)
20 - number of new CEOs
8 - number of new LPIs
70 - number of TPIs
We want to thank the following towns for allowing us to use their facilities for trainings and exams:
Bangor
Ellsworth
Fort Fairfield Gray
Houlton Old Orchard Beach
Portland Rockland
Saco
The year 2011 will bring more training and exams for MUBEC. We already had a great land use training and are working on basic trainings in shoreland zoning, legal issues, 80K and much more!

Division of Environmental Health Adopts Revised Subsurface Wastewater Disposal Rules
The revised subsurface wastewater disposal rules went into effect January 18th and do include new plumbing fees. You can view the revised rule here. The Division also udpated the the Guidance Manual, which supplements the Subsurface Wastewater Disposal Rules. The Guidance Manual now includes the Division's forms, which are no longer part of the rules. You can view the Guidance Manual here. JETCC is offering training classes in April and May on these revised rules in Portland, Augusta, Ellsworth, Farmington, and Presque Isle. There is a $75 fee for all JETCC classes. Please see below for registration information.

Another round of building code training workshops and exams have been scheduled for March and April. Training workshops include:

Residential Building Code
Municipally appointed CEOs may attend the training workshops at no cost. Exams are free to everyone and exams in all 7 of the codes are available. Exam dates will also be schedule for May.
The legal issues exam (as well as land use, shoreland zoning and plumbing) will be offered April 12th in Falmouth and April 14th in Augusta. You can register for those exams here. |
Appointment Notices
The CEO program sent new appointment notice forms to all municipalities with populations over 2000 and asked to have them back in December. We are still waiting for a very large chunk of those forms. We need these forms so we know what areas of the statewide building code CEOs need to be certified in. You can view the information we have collected so far. If your town is listed, please be sure that the information is correct. If your town is not listed, please submit that form as soon as possible. |
