Bang for Your Buck Video & Remodeling Cost vs. Value Report

A large renovation requires careful planning and consideration. With so many choices from design to materials it can be difficult to know if you are making the best decisions. HGTV's Bang for Your Buck short video demonstrates how remodeling decisions can affect the return on investment. Three homeowners in New York City each spent $60,000 renovating their homes. After the work was completed, Bang for Your Buck experts evaluated each home to determine which renovation project added the most value. Even though the examples are in a different city from where we live, it is an interesting lesson in how a little research and planning can significantly affect the outcome.

Another great resource is the Remodeling Cost vs. Value Report 2011-12. Listing the leading home improvement and/or remodeling projects, the report takes into consideration construction cost vs. the average rate of investment return by region. Narrow the report down specifically to Seattle for a detailed and informative study of our local market. Before you decide on that master bedroom addition, kitchen remodel, or replacing the siding, it would be wise to know what to expect as a return on the money invested if you were to sell your home.
