Faculty Focus |
Pat Jordan, drama instructor, has been busy as usual!
Five Plays for Tweens and Teens (written by Pat) have been released as individual scripts by Players Press.
Pat will be appearing as Mary Todd Lincoln in Michigan for the Smithsonian's Teaching American History program, and as Louisa May Alcott at the Lewes, DE Chautauqua, both in June. Last month, she presented the life of Amelia Earhart for Marple Library, and appeared at George Washington's Mount Vernon as Ann Pamela Cunningham, the woman who saved Mount Vernon.
Ryan Kauffman, saxophone instructor, was the focus of an article on allaboutjazz.com recently - Take Five with Ryan Kauffman. "What is not to like about a throaty tenor saxophone with a big aggressive sound, a full voiced soprano saxophone or a hauntingly velvety flute?" -Craig W. Hurst
Olga Nielsen, art instructor, is participating in the Artists' House Gallery's New Faces exhibit June 2-27. Meet the artists on June 4, 5-8:30pm (First Friday) and June 6, 1-4pm (reception with live music).
Rivera as the Witch in Hansel & Gretel |
Paula Rivera, voice instructor, has started a new opera company, Children's Opera Box, that brings abridged versions of mainstream operas to children and schools. Their first performance was Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel on May 11 at Dobson Elementary School in Manayunk, and proved to be a huge success! Paula is the founder and artistic director of the company, and performed the role of the Witch in their first performance.
Pat Schmitt, yoga instructor, just reached a milestone in her own training becoming certified as an ERYT500/T500, meaning she is able to train others as yoga instructors as well as issue continuing education credits for current teachers.
