Hannah Ninan, piano and art student, went to India over Spring Break to visit The Hannah School in the village of Thagarakuppam, India, which is named after her! The school is part of a larger economic development project undertaken by Logos Vision, a foundation started by Hannah's grandparents, which includes a sewing school, medical clinic and computer center. The school gives the students uniforms and shoes and teaches in English. Hannah took art supplies for the students and taught them to use a hula hoop. If the kids were not in school, they would probably be home rolling incense sticks for $2.25 a day to help supplement the family income. |

Medical Leave Policy 09-10 |
In light of recent concerns about the H1N1 flu and other communicable diseases, we have taken the following steps to ensure the safety and well-being of our students, teachers and staff:
- We have stepped up cleaning and sanitizing of common areas such as door handles, light switches, dance bars, etc.
- We ask faculty, students and staff to be vigilant in washing their hands and we have put extra bottles of hand sanitizer throughout the main hall.
- We ask any child, teacher, or staff member with signs of illness (fever, cough, etc.) stay home and see their primary health care provider. Please keep your child home should he or she have a fever greater than 100 F.
- No student or teacher should return to Darlington unless they have been fever free for 24 hours without aid of Tylenol or aspirin type medicines.

Lessons may be suspended for extended absences of 3 or more weeks due to illness, injury or other emergency circumstances. The office must be contacted immediately and a doctor's note provided so that the student will not be charged for these absences.
