Holiday Gifts
by Local Artists |
Darlington is pleased to provide some great holiday gifts for your shopping list this year!
Jewelry Artist Hattie Weselyk will have her hand-crafted jewelry available in the glass case in the lobby. Stop by frequently as she will continue to add pieces!
Chadds Ford Artist, Karl J. Kuerner's book "All in a Day's Work" makes a great gift for the art lover on your list. Karl will be available to sign your purchase through arrangement with the office. Karl will also have some prints of his work for sale in the lobby.
Ceramicist Laura Westmoreland will have a variety of handmade functional pottery that makes great gifts but can also decorate your table this season.
Have someone on your list that has expressed an interest in learning something new, but would never buy it for themselves? How about a Darlington gift certificate? You pick the amount, and they pick the subject - clay workshops, piano lessons, yoga classes, and so much more! You'll be opening the door to a new experience they will treasure, instead of another toy.
If you are shopping for that person that has everything, someone out of town, or just trying to get away from the commercialization of the season, consider an alternative gift! While crossing something off your "to do" list:
- you receive a tax-deduction for your donation to Darlington
- you support your community arts center
- you determine the amount you spend
- the person you designate will receive a note telling them about the generous gift you made, what we have accomplished with it, and you've reaffirmed your value of the arts!

Leadership at the Darlington Arts Center |
Serving on our Board of Directors and the Board Committees is a meaningful way to get involved with the Darlington Arts Center. We're looking for energetic people with an interest in sharing their legal, financial, public relations and marketing expertise. Our Board meets every other month. Board Committees typically meet in months where the Board does not. Board members participate in activities of the full Board and sit on at least one Board Committee.

Medical Leave Policy 09-10 |
In light of recent concerns about the H1N1 flu and other communicable diseases, we have taken the following steps to ensure the safety and well-being of our students, teachers and staff:
- We have stepped up cleaning and sanitizing of common areas such as door handles, light switches, dance bars, etc.
- We ask faculty, students and staff to be vigilant in washing their hands and we have put extra bottles of hand sanitizer throughout the main hall.
- We ask any child, teacher, or staff member with signs of illness (fever, cough, etc.) stay home and see their primary health care provider. Please keep your child home should he or she have a fever greater than 100 F.
- No student or teacher should return to Darlington unless they have been fever free for 24 hours without aid of Tylenol or aspirin type medicines.
Darlington's Medical Leave Policy
(which has been extended to classes for the 09-10 academic year)
Lessons may be suspended for extended absences of 3 or more weeks due to illness, injury or other emergency circumstances. The office must be contacted immediately and a doctor's note provided so that the student will not be charged for these absences.
Every effort will be made to make up the missed lessons and classes. If lessons or classes are not able to be made up by the end of the term, an in house credit will be issued
