Special Notice for Darlington Families |
|
In light of recent concerns about the H1N1 flu and other communicable diseases, we have taken the following steps to ensure the safety and well-being of our students, teachers and staff:
- We have stepped up cleaning and sanitizing of common areas such as door handles, light switches, dance bars, etc.
- We ask faculty, students and staff to be vigilant in washing their hands and we have put extra bottles of hand sanitizer throughout the main hall.
- We ask any child, teacher, or staff memeber with signs of illness (fever, cough, etc.) stay home and see their primary health care provider. Please keep your child home should he or she have a fever greater than 100 F.
- No student or teacher should return to Darlington unless they have been fever free for 24 hours without aid of Tylenol or aspirin type medicines.
Darlington's Medical Leave Policy
(which has been extended to classes for the 09-10 academic year)
Lessons may be suspended for extended absences of 3 or more weeks due to illness, injury or other emergency circumstances. The office must be contacted immediately and a doctor's note provided so that the student will not be charged for these absences.
Every effort will be made to make up the missed lessons and classes. If lessons or classes are not able to be made up by the end of the term, an in house credit will be issued. |

Thank You Power Windows & Siding |
For Volunteering at Darlington
On Tuesday, August 25th the Power Windows & Siding office in Brookhaven brought their employees to Darlington to volunteer for any and every thing! They painted all the hallways and dance studio, cleaned and organized the drama storage, put up shelves and moved pianos. Everyone was generous and enthusiastic to help. We can't thank them enough for their hard work.
Thank you Geri Smith for setting us up with this contact. |

Alumni Announcements New Staff Members |
Welcome our New Teaching Artists!
Pianist Paolo Vairo spent his summer once again concertizing throughout Europe. This summer his concerts were concentrated in Italy (Tuscany, Venice, Como, Lake Garda, Malcesine), Switzerland (Locarno), Austria (Mayrhofen), and Germany (Munich in the famous Gasteig Hall). The locations ranged from medieval castles to cultural centers to concert halls.
Paolo will be traveling to Vancouver at the end of September to perform 5 recitals. When he returns, he will perform at Darlington on October 9th.
Dance instructor and jewelry maker Hattie Weselyk's gorgeous jewelry is featured on the cover of the September issue of Brandywine Signature Magazine.
Volunteer and Preschool and Kindergarten Arts Program Assistant Edna Santiago received Honorable Mention in the Philadelphia Sketch Club's "Miniature" Exhibit this month.
Two New Staff Members
You may have noticed two new faces in the office. Brittany Payne joins us Tuesday-Friday 5pm-close and Saturdays. Jamie Gaesser will be the after-school coordinator and work in the office weekdays until 5. And we are very excited to have Darlene Bramucci rejoin us on Monday evenings.
Please stop by, introduce yourself and say "Hi." |

Leadership at the Darlington Arts Center |
Serving on our Board of Directors and the Board Committees is a meaningful way to get involved with the Darlington Arts Center. We're looking for energetic people with an interest in sharing their legal, financial, public relations and marketing expertise. Our Board meets every other month. Board Committees typically meet in months where the Board does not. Board members participate in activities of the full Board and sit on at least one Board Committee.
