Greetings!

AMC 8 results have arrived from the Mathematical Association of America.
Arjun Jain (grade 8) and Mrinal Kumar (grade 7) are school winners with score of 22 each (out of 25). Both of them would receive AMC 8 National Award of Certificate of Distinction for score >= 22, which is in the top 1% of all student scoresKavya Boorgu (grade 7), with a score of 17, is in the second place. Gazal Gulati (grade 6), with a score of 16, is in the third place. Gazal Gulati and Sagar Gulati  would receive the National award of Certificate of Merit for a student in grade 6 or below with score >= 12.

In 2007, Fairfield math Club (under Fairfield University) secured the School Merit Roll which includes schools with team scores (sum of the top three student scores) of 50-65 (top 2%-5% ).
See page 29 of the summary results
here.

A very heart congratulations to all!

Are you thinking about summer 2009?
We strongly recommend that all students, especially those in grades 7 & 8, seriously interested in math contests go to AwesomeMath Summer Camp. It is nationally recognized for excellent training in problem-solving math for top contests. Early registration  postmarked by Feb. 9, 2009 would  receive a 10% discount. You should go at least twice to develop the skills.
For more information see http://www.awesomemath.org/summer.shtml

High school students should consider Texas Mathworks Honors Summer Camp, if you are interested in math research projects for entering competitions. You need to go there twice because a research project is allocated only to second year campers. This year two of the prestigious Siemens Competition National winners Raphael Joel (RJ) Lim, and Mark Zhang are from this camp. See the press release here. Sixteen other campers were either semifinalists or regional finalists.
For more information on this camp, see http://www.txstate.edu/mathworks/camps/hsmc.html
