REMINDER
Registration deadline for MATHCOUNTS® 2009 is December 12, 2008. A school may register one team of four and up to four individuals for a total of eight participants. Students enrolled in the 6th, 7th or 8th grade are eligible to participate. We cannot offer MATHCOUNTS due to restriction. Only your school can register. If your middle school has not registered yet, please advise them to do so. Alternatively you can ask your parent to inform your math teacher and register you on behalf of your school, with your parent's name as the coach. MathCounts only accepts school registration but you can participate as an individual. Remember all mail comes to the school so your parent should ask them to be forwarded to him/her. If you get three other students from your school you can form a team (needs four). The registration deadline is  December 12, 2008. You can get forms online here. You can check whether or not your school is registered here.

MATHCOUNTS® competitions are organized at four levels: school, chapter (local), state and national. The School Competition is intended to be an aid to the coach in determining competitors for the chapter competition. If are registering on your own, your parent would administer it to you. Chapter Competitions are held in February - ours is at Fairfield University for Southwestern Connecticut Chapter. For exact date and time contact
Ike Heitlinger
Southwest Chapter MATHCOUNTS Coordinator, CT
Phone: (203) 261-4697
E-mail:  ike.heitlinger@ha-engr.com

The winning team will advance to the State Competition. Additionally, the two highest-ranking competitors not on the winning team (who may be registered as individuals or as members of a team) will advance to the State Competition. State Competitions are held between March in University of Hartford for Connecticut. The four highest-ranked Mathletes and the top team coach from each State Competition will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to the National Competition.

MATHCOUNTS® is a national math enrichment, coaching & competition program that promotes middle school mathematics achievement in every U.S. state & territory. Approximately 40,000 students from all 50 states, U.S. territories and the State and Defense Department school systems worldwide participate annually in local MATHCOUNTS® competitions.  It is a challenging contest and you need to start practising right away. You can practice online here.
