Congratulations to Arvind Kalra or being a top scorer in 2008 AMC 12 at Ludlowe High School Fairfield, CT. AMC 12 is a challenging premier math contest for students in grade 12 or lower. In 2007 more than 128,000 high school students took AMC 12 internationally. This year the contest was more challenging as calculators were not allowed. Arvind deserves special kudos because he took it as an eigth grader.

Congratulations to Aakash Bhattacharya for qualifying for the prestigious 2008 AIME (American Invitational Mathematics Examination), second time. He is his school winner with this score. Aakash qualified for AIME in 2007 and also earned the Certificate of Merit in 2007. For more information on AIME click here.

College Information Sessions
By Aakash Bhattacharya
Want to get a heads up on what colleges are looking for in the applicants? It's never too early to start, even for incoming freshman (those finishing up grade 8) and their parents. Getting to know the big picture helps you plan your choice of courses in high school and extracurricular activities. I went to the Yale session last year and learnt many useful things.
The sessions are free but advance registration is necessary to keep a spot - they fill up quickly.
