Did You Know?

$5.39 Billion

 over 10 Years

Dollar Sign Bullet Point

This is the taxpayer benefit estimated by the Congressional Research Service for the soon to be extended Qualified Leasehold, Restaurant, and Retail Improvements provisions.

These provisions permit the more generous 15-year straight line depreciation period for qualified improvements.

Cost segregation will help identify property eligible for these provisions, as well as personal property which can still be identified and recovered over 5 or 7 years.

Legislative Update

Maximum §179 Expense To Remain At $250,000

The maximum §179 expensing limits for 2010 will once again be $250,000, with the phase out beginning at $800,000. The limit was set to revert to $125,000 with a $500,000 phase out for 2010, however the recently signed Hiring Incentives to Restore Employment (HIRE) Act extended the more generous limits to encourage capital spending.

Cost segregation will identify property eligible for §179 expensing to maximize your deductions.
