Thai Massage Trainings and Open House
|
I would like to invite you to our open house on Wednesday, November 11, from 6-9 PM. We just moved into our new 2,000 square foot studio space this week, and are excited to have our first class in it this weekend (Thai herbal compress, still some room available).
At the open house, we'll have Thai massage mini-sessions, a biodynamic wine tasting as well as some locally sourced food prepared by Evanston chefs. Please stop by, it will be a great opportunity to find out more about our program or catch up with old friends.
Please see below for information about our CTB for the Shoulder, a great training that is getting full. This will be the last CTB of 2009. We are finishing the year with HandsFree 1 and 2, and this is a rare opportunity to complete the full HandsFree sequence in a short time.
We still have space available in our Nov 6-8 Level 1. If you haven't yet studied with us, I hope you can attend a
Level 1 soon -- this is the starting point for our program and students
always love it. -----------------------------------------------------

Luk Pra Kob (Thai Herbal Compress) Certification
Oct 16-18 ($450, 20 Hours/17 CE hours) We still have some room in this great class -- always a favorite during the winter. Moist heat, aromatherapy and anti-inflammatory herbs make for a wonderful traditional treatment that is not only sensual and relaxing, but great for relieving pain. Every serious Thai bodyworker should be conversant in the herbal
compress treatment, as it is a core part of the traditional Thai
repertoire for pain treatment. This course is now open to anyone (no prerequisites). Thai herbal compress balls, made with therapeutic herbs including
Thai ginger, lemongrass, camphor, eucalyptus and
other ingredients, are steamed and applied to
the Sen lines while warm. Your registration includes
all materials as well as herbal compresses to take home. More...Get your deposit in to reserve a place in this course as it is only offered a couple of times a year. ----------------------------------------------------- |
If you can't make class right now, we have several DVD titles available from our webstore. The Level 3: Northern Style DVD is a perennial best-seller. Our HandsFree Thai DVD was positively reviewed in Massage & Bodywork Magazine. And we're also getting a great response on our new Level 2: Therapeutic Thai Massage DVD.
By the way, if you already own that DVD and have gotten value from
it, I would ask if you could take a couple of moments and please post an Amazon review
-- it is very helpful to get the word out and make other Amazon users
aware of our DVD resources. Be the first to review this
title, which has the highest production values of any of our DVDs to
date.

CTB Shoulder: Shoulder, Upper Back and Arm Pain Oct. 23-25 ($450, 20 Hours/17 CE hours) Level 1 prerequisite
Any
bodyworker knows that shoulder pain is extremely common in the general
population, and is often the subject of misdiagnoses, unnecessary
surgeries, and disturbance of a person's life routines.
The vast majority of shoulder symptoms originate in soft tissue -- and can be easily treated using CTB techniques. Learn to resolve client symptoms, even from diagnoses like rotator cuff tear, frozen shoulder, carpal tunnel, nerve impingement and many others -- and watch your practice thrive.
You
will learn to treat not only the pain but the perpetuating factors that
make it come back, including postural, lifestyle, structural imbalance,
faulty breathing habits, and more. You will be surprised at some of the
seemingly unrelated issues that can set up these pain patterns. Even in
a weak economy, a therapist who can reliably fix pain will grow and be
successful.

 Table Thai Massage
Oct. 19-20 ($395, 16 Hours/15 CE hours) This 2-day course covers a full 1-hour treatment for the table, and is perfect for spa practitioners or those whose clientele is primarily table-based. We cover the basic Thai techniques for the table, body mechanics, draping issues, and possibilities for add-on or integrated treatments such as Thai herbal compress. This course satisfies the requirements for other courses in our program that have a Level 1 prerequisite. Because the April class is part of our teacher training program, students will have an amazing opportunity to work with several of our Certified Thai Bodywork Instructors who teach our program all over the country. Don't miss it! More... ----------------------------------------------------- |
HandsFree Thai Massage 1 Nov 13-15, 2009 ($450, 20 Hours/17 CE hours)
HandsFree Thai Massage 2 Dec 4-6, 2009 ($450, 20 Hours/17 CE hours)
Learn to work on large or heavily muscled clients in a way that is highly beneficial
for you the practitioner as well as for the client. Asana variations
using feet, legs and kneesallow the therapist to provide broad, deep
pressure without endangering the hands, wrists or shoulders.
In this class, we learn a 1-hour treatment sequence that employs all
treatment attitudes. This is an excellent way for the practitioner to safely work with athletes and other clients who require deeper pressure without putting stress on themselves.
As
in all of our courses, we maintain a strong therapeutic focus in our
teaching, guiding the student in how to work with specific issues of
pain or dysfunction. We employ the principles of Clinical Thai Bodywork to teach the student patterns of pain and its origins while using walking techniques.
We only teach HandsFree 2 once a year, and it's coming up again on Dec. 4-6. This course more than doubles your HandsFree repertoire from HandsFree 1, and gives you an amazing set of HandsFree tools for working in all areas of the body. HandsFree 1 is a prerequisite.
