Due to the 2012 World Salsa Championships held in Hong Kong, there will be NO CLASSES running at Latinissimo dance studios on Monday 05 March.

Unfortunately we were not able to find a replacement teacher to take over the classes. All classes for Monday night have been postponed to the following week.

If you know of anybody who is taking classes on Monday nights and may not receive this update, please let them know if you can.

All Latinissimo dancers representing New Zealand have reached the Final round at the 2012 World Salsa Championships in Hong Kong!

 
Giancarlo, Masha, Tania, Ricky, Paul, Brenda & Enrique have all made it past the qualifier round and semi-final round.

Tonight at 10pm local time in Hong Kong, all categories, Amateur, Professionals, Teams and Bachata couples will battle it out for salsa and bachata supremacy.

New Zealand has only entered the Salsa.

 

Latinissimo A-Team in semi-final

Giancarlo, Masha, Ricky, Tania, Paul and Brenda will be competing tonight against 5 other teams for the Gold medal. It is the first time any NZ team has reached the finals at a World Salsa Championship.

 

Having placed 2nd in the semi-finals, the gap to first place is minimal and the pressure is on to surpass the Australian team.

We wish Latinissimo A-Team all the best at the finals tonight!

PS. In the absence of Kiwi's in the audience, the Australians have been incredibly supportive towards the NZ representatives by yelling out "Kiwi, Kiwi, Kiwi, oi, oi, oi..." when the team walked out on stage.

Giancarlo & Masha have gone through from qualifier round all the way to finals round at the 2012 World Salsa Championships in Hong Kong. It is the first time any professional couple representing NZ has reached the finals at a World Salsa Championship.

The competition in the finals is going to be fierce with representatives from Spain, Japan, Colombia, Australia, USA and of course... New Zealand!

 

Giancarlo & Masha qualified in 1st place from the qualifier round and 2nd place from the semi-final round.

The judging panel in tonights final will consist of 7 judges from Australia, Japan, Korea, USA, Puerto Rico, Finland, UK/Switzerland.

We wish Giancarlo & Masha the best of luck at the competition!

Enrique and Tania are the first ever Amateur couple from New Zealand to enter a World Salsa competition. Thus far they have done a phenomenal representation by qualifying to the Final round!
