Where IT gets done!

November 2011

Greetings!

It's official. La Niņa is brewing in the Pacific Ocean. We are supposed to have a winter that will make Snow Mageddon look like Snow White. Okay, I don't necessarily believe all the hype- but I do know a thing or two about disaster recovery and backup. So, before Thanksgiving gives us all tryptophan comas, let's take a moment to review!

LA NINA 2011-2012 IS COMING- AND IT'S GOING TO BE ROUGH. ARE YOU READY?

According to their website, The AccuWeather.com Long-Range Forecasting Team is predicting another brutally cold and snowy winter for a large part of the country, thanks in large part to La Niņa... yet again.

La Niņa, a phenomenon that occurs when sea surface temperatures across the equatorial central and eastern Pacific are below normal, is what made last year's winter so awful for the Midwest and Northeast. Monster blizzards virtually shut down the cities of New York and Chicago. Last winter was one of New York City's snowiest on record.

Back up data, diversified circuits and back up your staff!

During the recent snow storms on the East coast, a lot of companies lost connectivity due to downed lines and cables. So, if you have all of your circuits riding the same copper, a downed telephone line means you may lose all of your connectivity. We recommend having a back up circuit- either a cable or fiber circuit from Comcast or a fiber circuit from US Signal. We have a special relationship with both companies and we can assist you in implementing a back up circuit plan.

Prime is a business partner with Stratosphere Networks who provides managed IT services. One of the great benefits is that they have a complete network operations center located in Evanston that is staffed by 25 technicians and support staff for Tier 1, 2 and 3 level support. This means that we can provide data back up and restore- and provide support for your staff wherever they are located.

and Now Meet Bob...

S-NET Communications came out with a great animated video that talks about Bob- and the Q Box. It is great at explaining what the Q Box does- for redundancy and voice quality. I strongly recommend taking a moment out of your busy schedule to watch it!

Through our relationship with Stratosphere Networks, I would like to offer you 2 hours of tech time for free! Some companies offer you a glorified sales call. We are offering 2 hours of a technician time so you can see how good Stratosphere is. Let them analyse your network for security - or anti-virus - or malware. Have them fix a problem. You decide. It's worth about $360 - so use it wisely.
