Message from the CEO
| | Dear Colleagues, Some of you may have seen the recent article titled "Too Close for Comfort" in the March issue of Imaging Economics. I was contacted by the editor to offer my opinion about the rising movement of teleradiology companies providing on-site services to hospitals. My position on the controversial topic has always been to be cautious and to select a teleradiology vendor that eventually becomes a partner to your business, not a predator.
I recently read two blog entries surrounding this topic and they both indicated it's almost impossible to distinguish a real predator from a real partner. Continuing along the same path, I wanted to share the following indicators to create your own personal "Early Warning System" for potential predators.
Pattern Recognition If you are partnering with a vendor that has created a pattern of slowly taking away business from their partners you should be on heightened alert. Building a strong relationship with administration, either from your own radiology group or at the hospital level, is key. Having a strong sense of customer service should be a core value everyone is concerned about.
Hi, I'm from Corporate and I'm Here to Help
If a potential partner approaches you with a solution for each of your problems, then they might be the problem. Predators may make promises that remind you of Utopia. If this is the case, there's most likely an alternative reason they are seeking to be your partner in the first place. Make sure you fully understand what's in it for them.
The Mirror Test
Is your new potential partner offering you the exact services you currently provide? A partnership is generally found on the principle that as a whole you are stronger than the parts. If you find a partner that offers solutions or skills you already bring to the table, then you are simply mirroring current capabilities. A win-win partnership will add something a little different and together you can provide better service to the patient community.
At Imaging On Call, we have always taken pride in the relationships we develop with our customers. We continuously strive to exceed our own customer service expectations. We aren't perfect and I cannot promise you a utopic relationship. What I can promise you is that our relationship means everything to IOC and we feel we are in this together. This is something that is not just important in your relationship with IOC, but something you should carry over to all of your vendor/client relationships.
As always, please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns.
Respectfully,
Mike Lampron
CEO

| Teleradiologist Spotlight: Gerald Riley, MD | |
Dr. Riley's medical career began as a hospital corpsman having served four years in the U.S. Navy with the United States Marine Corps. During this time, he was deployed to Somalia, Japan and Thailand with the 1st Battalion 7th Marines. Dr. Riley then pursued his medical degree from Dartmouth Medical School and completed his Diagnostic Radiology residency at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
"I was drawn to teleradiology because I think it is the future of radiology. Teleradiology allows a hospital to adjust to the changing demands of medicine and workflow viability without staffing to meet peak demands. IOC appealed to me specifically because they are patient focused and their desire to provide timely and clinically relevant information for the referring providers and patients."
Dr. Riley also continues his career in the military and most recently served in Iraq as a radiologist for the 86th Combat Support Hospital in Baghdad. He lives on a small farm in Virginia with his wife and children. |
| Welcome our New Radiologist | | Bela Bhatia, MD
Dr. Bhatia has started reading for Imaging On Call on a part-time basis.
She received her medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina and completed her residency at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City. Dr. Bhatia also has a Body Imaging fellowship from Mount Sinai Medical Center.
Welcome to the Imaging On Call family!!

| IOC Welcomes New Customers |
|
Along with Southeast X-Ray, Inc., Imaging On Call began providing services for our first military hospital, Evans Army Community Hospital, located in Fort Carson, Colorado. IOC also launched our services at two facilities in Southern Tennessee - Harton Regional Medical Center in Tullahoma and the Medical Center of Manchester in Manchester. And, thanks to the hard work among the various departments at IOC, services for these facilities were up and running in record time!
If anyone would like to discuss IOC services for your facility, please contact Howard Reis at hreis@imagingoncall.com. |

The Road Less Traveled
IOC's workflow manager Janine Purcell and the director of clinical operations Sean Kowaliw, recently authored the article titled "The Road Less Traveled...Going Above and beyond is the new standard of care" in the March 1st issue of RT Image magazine.
The article provides an example of how Imaging On Call, along with AMICAS' technology, provides a highly personalized level of service that directly impacts patient care.
Michael Lampron, our CEO, was recently interviewed for the March 2010 article "Too Close for Comfort?" in Imaging Economics magazine. The piece focuses on the rising trend of teleradiology companies providing on-site services to hospitals and his position on the controversial topic.
