Love is one of the most powerful emotions we experience. It inspires us to express through poetry, songs, paintings, books and stories while feeding our imaginations and romantic visions. At the same time it can be a concept that bewilders us with great confusion for we hear it used in so many different ways. What is this thing called Love?
When we speak of Love we are often speaking of how we feel about something else. "I love you." "I love my home." "I love chocolate." All of these statements share that you love something. Some people refer to this type of Love as conditional love. While they view unconditional Love as simply loving something no matter what it does, says, acts, or is, in any given moment. I'd like to offer you another perspective.
What if we have the capacity to love on 2 different levels, one being physical and the other spiritual? One love needs something else to be present, it is object oriented while the other is just a state of being. In HEARTMATH SOLUTIONS they refer to love as coming from the lower heart and the upper heart. The lower heart is the one that has conditions, needs something else to be present and represents the love that exists on the physical realm. Upper heart love is love on the spiritual level, nothing else has to be present to feel this love. You simple feel it.
BOTH have great value and enrich our lives however the lower heart can often lead us astray and cause us great emotional trauma for often it is packaged up with tremendous "booby" traps. Each condition that is attached to this love holds expectations that can unravel on us at times. This creates that uncomfortable ride on the "roller coaster of emotions." In one moment you can go from "I Love" to "I hate" if the expectations are not met. Not so pleasant or fun.
When we begin to strengthen love as a spiritual energy within us, something that exists free of conditions and enriched by appreciation and compassion, we discover the pure delight of loving. We feel this energy no matter what is being said, done, or given. We love the diversity of life as we see the value in all things. Like a strong perfume the essence of this love "reeks" of acceptance, forgiveness, compassion and care, while supported by a sense of liberation. SWEETNESS.
