January is a wonderful month to reclaim your essence. The light is moving back north, shedding its wisdom on YOU. Take this time to find yourself.
Time, you say, I have no time to spare!
Tick, tock, tick, tock is a rhythm we all know well. The sound of time ticking away, with an underlying message to hurry, hurry, hurry, for you do not have enough of this thing called time! Does this sound familiar to you? When did we agree to believe that there is a lack of time in our lives? Do you still want to operate from that belief? If not continue on reading.
Time is relevant. There is an endless amount of it. The linear nature of time exists in one moment as we watch one minute turn into the next, as the day and night slide along. At the same time in any given moment you can experience the past and the future in your mind. Let's call this dimensional time. You can utilize both aspects of time using linear time when you have an appointment, and dimensional time when you align time to your needs.
For some of you the idea of dimensional time is new. You live only on the linear scale of time. If you'd like to explore dimensional time, here are some ideas for you. Try a day of not scheduling anything, have no plan, no commitment and allow the day to fill itself. Take off your watch for a day, notice how often you seek to "know" what time it is. At first it may feel extremely difficult or uncomfortable, like anything new. Simply give it the fullness of the day to unfold. Let the magic happen. Relax.
Know that stress wastes time. The more frantic you become the more time will elude you. When you are calm and centered, time will seem to be holding still for you, ready to align your needs with it. Have you ever noticed while you are rushing around feeling late, believing you have a lack of time, that this is just the time that things are misplaced, things go wrong and you have difficulty getting something done? At the same time when you are relaxed, feel there is no sense of time that needs management, everything seems to align itself. Which feels better for you?
As you begin to be attentive to your relationship with time you may also notice how natural or unnatural your rhythm of life is. Rhythm in nature occurs all of the time. Sunrise to sunset, cycles of the moon from new to full, high tide to low tide, all have a natural rhythm that some of us mark our time by. There is a deep sense of ease in these natural rhythms (so unlike the chaotic resonance of linear time.) How can you rekindle your internal rhythm with nature?
