Greetings!
Is it December already? This year has been a blast of travel, new and prosperous experiences, and wonderful teaching opportunities. We thank ALL of you who gift us with your presence in class, and your commitment to yourselves through yoga. We wish you a blessed holiday season.
We have just completed our first two weeks of teaching classes at Ft. Zachary Taylor State Park. We are LOVING it! The inspiration of doing yoga out in all the divine nature is magnificent, at times overwhelming, and rich with 'distractions' to learn from. I love as I am doing a backbend to look into the trees and see birds and bees buzzing about, see the vast sky above, and then to come back to earth through my feet.
We are surrounded by blues, in all of its variety, dappled with the green of the trees, and the spray of colors in the flowers. We give great thanks for this new venue.
If you can come and join us, please remember to check in at the gate with the park attendant and try to come no sooner then 7:50.

| The Law of Adjustment
by Don Bartolone |
|
Each year as we move back and forth between Cape Cod and Key West, I become aware of the possibility of getting comfortable with the process of adjustment. The change of climate, the change of residence, and this year the change in our "Yoga on the Beach" location, all invokes the Law of Adjustment.
Everything in the universe is in motion and therefore everything changes. Nothing remains static and nothing remains the same. Life is indeed characterized by constant change and change requires adjustment. We appreciate this in nature throughout the seasons. The plants adjust by way of photosynthesis and eventually by leaf shedding. Animals adjust in different ways using hibernation or migration. All life forms are subject to change and therefore we all adjust. How we do it becomes the focus.
The Law of Adjustment provides the momentum that happens in nature without fail. No effort is required when our awareness embraces a natural law, including the metaphysical laws. All that is required is awareness and cooperation with the law. How does one cooperate with natural law, you may ask. Surrender to it. We don't need to raise a white flag or lie down in the road. We need only to acknowledge and go with the momentum of the adjustment process.
Resistance is an impediment to the adjustment process although it cannot stop the process. It can't even delay the process but we sure can cause ourselves a lot of stress and even pain by resisting it.
Notice people's reactions to change in general. Many of us sometimes find change disturbing and even threatening and try to put off the adjustment process. By opening to change, by relaxing our reactions, we need only permit the adjustment and move on painlessly, easily, and even joyfully.
For example, there is a period of acceptance in the grief process which aligns with and bears the fruit of adjustment. We don't forget or deny the loss. We accept and live with it. We don't do the actual adjusting. That happens on its own. Notice that your bodies self adjust, to weather, and even to injury. Nature draws us into alignment.
Allow adjustment to occur. We invoke this law with our awareness of it. We empower ourselves by embracing it. | |
