Hello to all of Starfish's friends. My name is Patrick McLaughlin and I am President of the Board of Directors for Starfish.
We want to give everyone an update on our Executive Director, Amanda. She was admitted to a hospital in Xi'an last week for tests, and the doctors have now determined that she has cancer. They are undergoing further tests to determine more details. As we receive information about her situation, we will continue to post updates. Amanda is calm and strong in her faith, and is amazed at the outpouring of love and concern for her.
We want to reassure our friends and families of Starfish that the babies at the foster home are continuing to receive quality, sustained and consistent care. Operations are continuing as normal. Volunteers are encouraged to come to Starfish as usual, as their contributions are of great value.
Amanda is receiving top medical care and will continue to receive the best treatment and care possible. The Board of Directors is in close contact with her and with Starfish, and continues to monitor the needs of both Amanda and Starfish on a daily basis. Many friends and supporters have stepped up to fill the needs on an on-going basis, and will continue to do so for as long as necessary.
