Chico the Man! A Key West Pug/Beagle...
Chico
Chico is a three year old male Pug/beagle. He may take his time getting to know you, but he will soon be jumping for joy at the chance to go for a walk once introductions have been made.  He has lived with another dog and is doing great making new dog friends in the play yards.  He is the perfect-sized boy for any home and appears to be housetrained.  For more information on adopting Chico or any other great animal at the FKSPCA, please call us at 305-294-4857, or visit us at our location at 5230 College Road on Stock Island.

Dalliah --An Oregon Kitty!

Dallah  Adopt me and a second cat is free! This charming young lady is Dalilah! This girl has a sweet personality and would be a perfect companion to keep you company! It's been said that she is a bit of a lap kitty and may love to just snuggle up to a good movie. She does have a bit of an independent side and will need some time and space as she adjusts to her new environment. She has had experience with older children and seemed to get along just fine. She may also love a feline friend! Could this gentle, playful soul be the friend you've always been searching for?
The adoption fee includes spay/neuter, microchip ID, collar and OHS I.D. tag, initial vaccines, one month pet insurance, courtesy veterinarian exam, and plenty of post adoption support!

Hi Everyone!

Well, we're certainly in the thick of the winter dance!  Hang in there!  Surround yourself with good friends, lots of color and fun music.  That's what we're doing here in Portland!  And, to put you in that nice place in your head, enjoy this cool video Ted found. Oh, yeah, and it's Fresh Caught Friday!

So, what better time of the year than right now, to have a Chocolate Festival!  Yippee!  If you don't like or eat chocolate, I am so sorry.  But, not enough to stop talking about it!  Here in Portland, at the very large Convention Center, this whole weekend, will be wall-to-wall chocolate vendors...aka...FREE SAMPLES!  People will saunter in and float out, on a cloud of chocolate ecstasy.  Great way to spend the weekend, I say!

And, this week also starts the Chinese Year of the Dragon.  I didn't know what the dragon meant in Chinese mythology so I looked it up.  It's certainly everywhere like in paintings, sculpture and carved into furniture in that culture, and now I know why.  It sympolizes power, strength and good luck.  Dragons also control all the elements, including weather forces and flooding.  Hmm...time to cozy up to a Dragon and drop a few hints that Spring would be nice right about now!  I found it interesting that European and classic Greek dragons are usually evil and something to be conquered or destroyed, whereas the Chinese drew strength from the dragon as a symbol of imperial power.  Hmm again.  I like the Chinese version better.

And, lastly, in Key West, da, da, da, (impending doom sound)...there's more to the 500 million dollar emerald cache found in the Gulf of Mexico two years ago by Jay Miscovich.  A judge this last Tuesday told Kim Fisher, son of the late treasure-hunting legend Mel Fisher, that he needs to cite case law stating the Fisher family has a legal claim to the treasure, even if such treasure is found outside the "scatter trail" of the Atocha Spanish galleon or sister ship Santa Margarita that they found.   I'm suddenly seeing my "in"!  If I lay claim to a part of the ocean kinda near the Atocha site, where another galleon went down, could I maybe say it had treasure on it and the goodies from the Atocha could be part of my scatter trail of treasure?  Hmm...This'll take some heavy brain power and loads of paper work, but could certainly be financially worth it.  Remember, the reason I originally moved to Key West was to find treasure.  Not being a very good swimmer, I clearly hadn't thought it all the way through, but who does when they move to Key West?  Hmm...my evil twin is working on this.  And I almost forgot...the attorney, David Paul Horan, originally the attorney for the Fisher family, is now the attorney for the other guy, Jay Miscovich.  Oh, oh...what does he know?  and is he a good swimmer?  Hmm...the plot is certainly thickening.  Oh, wait... this just in..."60 Minutes" is gonna do a piece on this mess for an uncoming broadcast, according to Horan.  Stay tuned...

Oh, and for those of you who are visiting Key West and wanted to know if anyone was carrying my jewelry, etc., I can proudly say YES!  The Key West Butterfly and Nature Conservatory, located at 1316 Duval Street, is carrying some of my jewelry and a large butterfly platter.  Click here to check out their website.  It's a great serene, beautiful place.  Ted and I would go there often and hang out for a long time in the garden with all the gorgeous butterflies, birds, fish, etc.   It'll always be one of my favorite spots on the island.

Until next week, keep your scatter trail to yourself and hold onto those dreams!  xomo, ted and the furry treasures.
